About This Trip
Escape to Canada's breathtaking Atlantic coast on this 8-day journey through two of the country's most enchanting Maritime provinces. Begin in Halifax — Nova Scotia's vibrant, ocean-facing capital — where historic waterfront fortifications meet a thriving culinary and craft brewery scene. Explore the rugged Cabot Trail, one of the world's great scenic drives, winding through Cape Breton's highlands above the crashing Atlantic. Then cross to the pastoral paradise of Prince Edward Island — immortalized by L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables — where red-sand beaches, rolling farmland, and the freshest lobster in Canada await.

Itinerary
- Day 1: Welcome to Halifax — Nova Scotia's Ocean City
Arrive at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, where our representative greets you warmly and transfers you to your waterfront hotel. Halifax immediately charms with its salty sea air, friendly Maritime culture, and stunning harbor views. Spend the first evening strolling the lively Historic Properties waterfront boardwalk, sampling fresh Atlantic seafood at one of the harbor-side restaurants, and watching the tall ships bob gently in the harbor.

- Day 2: Halifax City & Peggy's Cove
After breakfast, ascend Halifax Citadel National Historic Site — a star-shaped hilltop fortress built to defend the harbor — where costumed interpreters bring 19th-century military life vividly to life. Explore the moving exhibits of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, including haunting Titanic artifacts recovered from the icy North Atlantic. In the afternoon, drive along the dramatic Atlantic coastline to Peggy’s Cove — one of Canada’s most photographed spots — where a solitary lighthouse perches atop ancient wave-smoothed granite boulders above the churning sea.

- Day 3: Lunenburg — A UNESCO World Heritage Town
Drive south along the Lighthouse Route to Lunenburg, a perfectly preserved 18th-century British colonial settlement and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The colorful Victorian architecture climbing the steep hillside above the harbor is instantly recognizable and utterly charming. Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and board the famous Bluenose II schooner replica. Browse the artisan shops, galleries, and bakeries of this remarkably authentic and living heritage town before returning to Halifax.

- Day 4: Halifax to Cape Breton — Entering the Highlands
Depart Halifax and drive north across the Canso Causeway onto Cape Breton Island — home to one of the world’s most spectacular coastal drives. Begin the legendary Cabot Trail, a 298-kilometer route that winds dramatically along the clifftops of Cape Breton Highlands National Park high above the Atlantic Ocean. Stop at French Mountain and MacKenzie Mountain lookoffs for breathtaking panoramic views, and keep your eyes open for bald eagles soaring on the thermals above the highlands.

- Baddeck / Cheticamp
- Day 5: Cape Breton Highlands & Baddeck
Complete the Cabot Trail’s most spectacular section today, with stops at the Lone Shieling — a replica of a Scottish crofter’s cottage in a beautiful old-growth forest maple grove — and the Skyline Trail, where a short hike delivers one of Atlantic Canada’s most extraordinary coastal views: a sweeping headland dropping sheer to the blue Atlantic, with pilot whales and minke whales frequently spotted far below. End the day in charming Baddeck, the hometown of Alexander Graham Bell, and visit the fascinating Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site on the shores of Bras d’Or Lake.

- Baddeck
- Day 6: Cape Breton to Prince Edward Island
Cross back to the Nova Scotia mainland and travel to the Confederation Bridge — at 12.9 kilometers, the longest bridge over ice-covered waters in the world — for a dramatic crossing into Prince Edward Island. Arrive in Charlottetown, PEI’s charming small capital, which holds the proud distinction of being the birthplace of Canadian Confederation. Check into your hotel and spend the evening wandering the beautifully restored Victorian streetscapes of the historic downtown.

- Charlottetown, PEI
- Day 7: Green Gables, Red Sand Beaches & Island Life
Today experience PEI’s most beloved icons. Visit Green Gables Heritage Place — the farmhouse that inspired L.M. Montgomery’s beloved Anne of Green Gables novels — set within the rolling farmland and whispering birch forests of Prince Edward Island National Park. Explore the National Park’s extraordinary red-sand beaches, where the brilliant crimson of the iron-rich sand meets the warm, shallow waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence in one of Canada’s most unique and picturesque coastal settings. The evening brings PEI’s finest culinary tradition — an authentic Island lobster dinner, accompanied by steamed mussels and fresh chowder.

- Charlottetown, PEI
- Day 8: Farewell Prince Edward Island
Savor a final breakfast and take a morning walk through Charlottetown’s pretty Victoria Park before your transfer to Charlottetown Airport for your flight home. You depart with salt air in your hair, the taste of fresh lobster on your lips, and memories of Canada’s wild and wonderful Atlantic coast that will last a lifetime.
