Indonesia Travel FAQs

A trip with Royalairtrip allows you to have a tour with freedom and flexibility. You decide where to visit, when to see, what to eat and where to stay.

Is there a new fee while visiting Bali?

Yes. Since 14 February 2024 international visitors arriving in Bali are required to pay a tourism levy of IDR 150,000 which is approximately USD 10. This fee is paid separately from the visa and can be completed conveniently online before your arrival through the official Love Bali website. The levy directly supports cultural preservation, environmental protection, and sustainable tourism initiatives across the island helping maintain Bali's extraordinary natural and cultural heritage for future generations. Royal Air Trip assists all clients with complete pre departure payment guidance.

Is tap water safe to drink in Indonesia?

No, tap water is not safe to drink anywhere throughout the country and bottled water is strongly recommended as the safest and most reliable option for all international travellers. Tap water should only be consumed after being thoroughly boiled or properly filtered to avoid potential stomach issues and health problems during your trip. Most hotels and resorts provide complimentary bottled water daily but always carry an extra bottle when exploring temples, markets, and outdoor attractions. Royal Air Trip provides all clients with comprehensive health and safety advice before departure.

Is a visa necessary to visit Indonesia?

Many international travellers including those from the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada can enter visa free for up to 30 days making trip planning very straightforward and convenient. A Visa on Arrival is also available for eligible visitors at major international airports for IDR 500,000 which is approximately USD 30 and can be extended once for an additional 30 days. Indian passport holders can also obtain a Visa on Arrival at designated entry points. Royal Air Trip provides complete and up to date visa guidance to all clients well before their departure date.

When is the best time to visit Indonesia?

The dry season running from May to October is widely considered the best time to visit when sunny skies, calm seas, and excellent weather make beaches, temple exploration, and outdoor activities thoroughly enjoyable throughout the archipelago. July and August are the most popular months offering the most reliable weather but also the largest crowds and highest accommodation prices. The rainy season from November to April brings fewer tourists, significantly lower prices, and dramatically lush green landscapes that make certain destinations even more beautiful.

Is tipping mandatory in Indonesia?

No, tipping is not mandatory anywhere throughout the country but it is genuinely appreciated as a warm gesture of gratitude for good service. Leaving around 10 percent at restaurants, spas, and cafes is a thoughtful practice particularly at smaller local establishments where service charges are not automatically included in your bill. For tour guides and drivers a tip of USD 3 to 5 per day per traveller is a generous and widely appreciated gesture that goes a long way. Royal Air Trip provides all clients with a detailed tipping guide specific to their itinerary.
