About This Trip
Spain Portugal Morocco sit within a short flight of each other but feel like three different worlds. This private trip starts in Madrid and Toledo, continues to Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter and Gaudí buildings, then flies to Lisbon and Sintra. It ends with a long route through Morocco, from Marrakech over the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara dunes, then to Fez, Rabat and Casablanca.
You will walk through medieval Toledo, see the Sagrada Família, watch sunset over Lisbon, ride a camel into the Sahara and get lost in the Fez medina. It is a tailor-made trip with a private guide in each country, two flights, one high-speed train and several long drives in Morocco. It suits travelers who want range and are comfortable with early starts.

- Day 1: Arrival in Madrid
Your driver meets you at the airport and takes you to your hotel. Rest, then take an easy evening walk to Plaza Mayor for a first tapas dinner. Your guide stops by to go over the route and the flights ahead.

Take the high-speed train from Madrid to Barcelona, about 2.5-3 hours. After checking in, walk Las Ramblas and the nearby market. The evening is free.

Visit the Sagrada Família, then Casa Batlló or another Modernista house, and finish at Park Güell. Entry slots are timed and sell out, so we book them in advance. Wear comfortable shoes, since you climb steps and slopes.

- Day 7: Fly to Lisbon

Drive over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, about 2,200 meters high, to Aït Ben Haddou, a mud-brick fortress village used as a film set. Continue to Ouarzazate for the night. Plan on 4-5 hours of driving plus stops.

- Day 13: Into the Sahara
Drive about 6-7 hours to Erfoud, passing the Todra Gorge. At Erg Chebbi, ride a camel into the dunes for sunset. Check whether the night is in a desert camp or a hotel, and bring a scarf and layers.

- Day 14: Across the Middle Atlas to Fez
Take a long drive of about 7-8 hours through the Ziz Valley, Midelt and the cedar forests near Ifrane. Stops break up the day, but expect to be in the car most of it. You arrive in Fez in the evening.

Walk Fez el-Bali, one of the largest car-free medieval cities in the world, with a licensed guide. See the Bou Inania Madrasa, the leather tanneries and the craft quarters. Some stops involve shops, and your guide tells you in advance.
