About This Trip
The Pyramids of Giza are among the most awe-inspiring structures ever built by human hands. Pair them with the longest total solar eclipse of the century, witnessed from the ancient temples of Luxor, and you have one of the most extraordinary travel experiences imaginable. This 10-day Egypt tour opens at the Pyramids of Giza and closes in Aswan — with a solar eclipse in between that will last over 6 minutes and 23 seconds on the morning of August 2, 2027. Spots are limited. This event will not happen again in our lifetimes.

Itinerary
- Day 1: Thursday, 29 July 2027 – Arrival in Cairo
Welcome to the vibrant city of Cairo!
Your journey to the Pyramids of Giza and the eclipse of the century begins here.
A representative meets you at Cairo International Airport and transfers you to your hotel by private vehicle. Rest and settle in. Tomorrow, the Pyramids of Giza await.
- Cairo
- Day 2: Friday, 30 July 2027 – Giza Pyramids & the Great Sphinx
Begin at the iconic Giza Plateau. Standing before the Pyramids of Giza for the first time is a moment that never leaves you. Your Egyptologist guide explains the engineering genius behind these 4,500-year-old monuments — the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure
— and brings the stories of the pharaohs who commissioned them to life.
Walk to the Great Sphinx and learn the myths and mysteries surrounding this legendary limestone sculpture. The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx together form one of the greatest ancient sites on earth.
In the afternoon, continue to Saqqara to see the Step Pyramid of Djoser. Built around 2650 BCE, it predates the Pyramids of Giza by a century and represents Egypt’s first attempt at monumental stone architecture.

- Day 3: Saturday, 31 July 2027 – Highlights of Cairo & Flight to Aswan
Start the morning at the Grand Egyptian Museum — the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts, located just 2 km from the Pyramids of Giza. Your Egyptologist guide walks you through Tutankhamun’s complete golden treasures and the hall of royal mummies.
Continue to the Citadel of Salah El Din for sweeping views over Cairo, then explore the historic lanes of Khan el Khalili Bazaar — spices, copper lanterns, and the sounds of a medieval marketplace unchanged for centuries.
In the evening, transfer to the airport for your flight to Aswan, the calm southern gateway to Nubia.

- Day 4: Sunday, 1 August 2027 – Leisure in Aswan & Nubian Village Visit
Take a relaxed morning to recover and prepare before the eclipse the following day.
In the afternoon, travel by motorboat to a traditional Nubian Village along the Nile banks. Walk past brightly painted houses, meet local families, and learn about Nubian culture and daily life in this ancient region of the Nile Valley.
The calm of Aswan before the eclipse is intentional. Tomorrow is exceptional.

- Day 5: Monday, 2 August 2027 – Solar Eclipse Experience in Luxor
Rise before dawn and drive three hours across the desert to Luxor — ancient Thebes, capital of Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs.
At the vast Karnak Temple complex, take your position for the total solar eclipse. At approximately 10:07 AM local time, the moon begins its transit across the sun. Over 6 minutes and 23 seconds, daylight fades to twilight. Stars appear. Temperatures drop. The columns of Karnak — 5,000 years old — stand in shadow.
This is the longest total solar eclipse on land since 1991. The next comparable event will not occur until 2114.
As light returns, continue to Luxor Temple. Admire the monumental seated statues of Ramses II at the entrance and the towering pylons carved with hieroglyphs that record Egypt’s greatest military victories.
Board your Nile cruise ship that afternoon and begin sailing south.

- Day 6: Tuesday, 3 August 2027 – Discovering Luxor’s Timeless Treasures
Explore the West Bank of Luxor with your guide. The contrast with the Pyramids of Giza is striking — here, tombs were cut deep into the earth rather than raised above it.
Visit the Valley of the Kings, where over 60 royal tombs are carved into limestone cliffs. The painted walls inside record entire mythologies — gods, rituals, and the journey of the soul through the underworld.
Continue to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most dramatic buildings in the ancient world, rising in three terraced levels from the desert floor. Finish at the Colossi of Memnon — two enormous seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have watched over the Theban plain for 3,400 years.

- Day 7: Wednesday, 4 August 2027 – Sailing the Nile & Exploring Ancient Sanctuaries
Sail south from Luxor and stop at two remarkable ancient sanctuaries along the Nile. Like the Pyramids of Giza, these temples were built to honour gods that shaped Egypt’s civilisation — but in a completely different architectural style.
The **Temple of Horus at Edfu** is one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Egypt. Its towering entrance pylon and massive granite statues of the falcon god create an overwhelming first impression.
**Kom Ombo Temple** sits right on the Nile riverbank and is dedicated to two gods simultaneously — Sobek the crocodile and Horus the falcon. Visit the adjacent Crocodile Museum for a fascinating insight into ancient Egyptians’ reverence for this creature.

- Day 8: Thursday, 5 August 2027 – Abu Simbel’s Monumental Grandeur
Travel through the desert beneath the Nubian sun to reach the extraordinary temples of Abu Simbel. Stand in awe before the four colossal seated statues of Ramses II carved into the façade of the Great Temple. Inside, admire the brilliantly preserved hieroglyphs and finely detailed reliefs illustrating historic battles, as your guide vividly recounts the stories and significance behind this remarkable site.
Following the visit, journey back by road to rejoin your Nile cruise ship for a final evening onboard. Relax in your cabin and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the river as the day comes to a close.

- Day 9: Friday, 6 August 2027 – Aswan Highlights & Return to Cairo
Explore Aswan with your guide. Begin at the Aswan High Dam — a modern engineering achievement that controls the Nile’s floodwaters and powers much of Egypt. Continue to the ancient granite quarries to see the Unfinished Obelisk, still lying in the rock where it cracked 3,500 years ago.
Cross the Nile by motorboat to reach Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Its island setting, preserved reliefs, and peaceful atmosphere make it one of Egypt’s most beautiful ancient monuments.
Fly back to Cairo for your final night.

- Day 10: Friday, 7 August 2027 – Farewell Cairo
A final morning in Cairo — take a last look at the city skyline, perhaps with the distant silhouette of the Pyramids of Giza visible from your hotel window.
Your private driver transfers you to the airport. Depart Egypt carrying the memory of two extraordinary things: the Pyramids of Giza, unchanged for 4,500 years, and a solar eclipse that darkened the sky over Luxor for over 6 minutes on August 2, 2027.
