Itinerary

Your Egypt road trip begins the moment you land in Cairo. A local representative meets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel in a private car.

Take the evening to rest or step out for a first glimpse of the city. Cairo at night — with its lit-up minarets and busy streets — sets the perfect tone for the journey ahead.

Start the day at the Giza Plateau. Your Egyptologist guide walks you through the three great pyramids — Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure — and explains the engineering precision that has puzzled historians for centuries.

Next, stand before the Great Sphinx and hear the myths that surround it.

In the afternoon, visit the Grand Egyptian Museum. It houses over 100,000 artefacts, including King Tutankhamun’s golden mask and the solar boat of Khufu. Arrive with a guide and you’ll leave with real depth of understanding — not just photos.

Catch an early morning flight to Aswan. It’s a short hop, and your road trip picks up again on arrival.

Begin at the Aswan High Dam — an engineering marvel that transformed Egypt’s modern economy by controlling the Nile’s annual floods.

Then visit the Unfinished Obelisk, still lying in the granite quarry where it cracked 3,500 years ago. It gives you a fascinating window into how ancient Egyptians worked stone at scale.

The highlight of the day is Philae Temple. You reach it by boat, and the ride across the water — with the temple rising from its island — is unforgettable.

End the afternoon with a felucca sailing along the Nile. The pace drops. The city fades. This is Aswan at its best.

Temple of Kom Ombo
Kom Ombo Temple in Luxor

This is the heart of your Egypt road trip. You travel north by private car along the Nile, stopping at two remarkable temples along the way.

**Kom Ombo Temple** sits right on the riverbank and is dedicated to two gods — Sobek the crocodile and Horus the falcon. The dual layout is unique in all of Egypt.

**Edfu Temple** is one of the best-preserved ancient sanctuaries in the country. Its towering entrance pylons and detailed carved walls show religious scenes in extraordinary detail.

The drive between them is quietly beautiful — farmland, palm trees, small towns, the river always nearby.

Arrive in Luxor by late afternoon and check in. Rest well. Tomorrow is a big day.

Valley of the Kings

Luxor’s West Bank holds some of the most significant sites on the entire Egypt road trip.

Start at the **Valley of the Kings**, where over 60 royal tombs were carved into the limestone cliffs. The painted walls inside are vivid, detailed, and remarkably well preserved.

Continue to the **Valley of the Nobles** and **Deir el-Medina**, where you learn about the craftsmen who built these tombs — a fascinating glimpse of everyday ancient life.

The **Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut** is next — a three-tiered structure carved into the cliffs that is as dramatic as any building in Egypt.

Finish at **Medinet Habu** and the **Colossi of Memnon**, two colossal seated statues that have watched over the Theban plains for 3,400 years.

Morning brings Luxor’s East Bank.

**Karnak Temple** is Egypt’s largest religious complex — 2,000 years in the making, with over 130 columns in its Great Hypostyle Hall alone. Walking through it feels like moving through a stone forest.

The **Avenue of Sphinxes** leads south from Karnak to **Luxor Temple**, where giant statues of Ramses II flank the entrance. The colonnades inside are some of the most elegant in all of Egypt.

After the tour, you transfer to Luxor airport for your flight back to Cairo, where you spend your final night.

Use the morning for anything you missed — a walk along the Nile Corniche, a visit to Khan el-Khalili bazaar, or simply a quiet Egyptian breakfast at the hotel.

Your private driver picks you up for the airport transfer when it’s time. The Egypt road trip ends here, but the memories of it won’t fade quickly.
